Hi, I’m Pulkit Goyal. I’m fascinated by education, technology, money, and health.

I’ve been playing chess since I was a kid. Strategy games help me think clearly and stay sharp—like a gym for my mind. I pair this with physical exercise, focusing on weightlifting, running, and rock climbing.
I became fluent in accounting and finance before I became fluent in English. My career started at The Boston Consulting Group, providing data-driven recommendations to financial institutions. During this time, I also taught foundational finance to new hires, wrote newsletters that made complex finance easier to understand, and [[Portfolio/One Terminal, Countless Constraints - When a $30,000 Tool Goes Unused|built a training program to improve adoption of a $30,000-per-year finance platform]]. These projects deepened my interest in how people learn.
My systems-oriented approach carried into education, where I designed a structured onboarding program that reduced onboarding time from months to weeks. Since then, I’ve [[Portfolio/Design Portfolio|designed hundreds of courses from the ground up]], focusing on interaction, clarity, and scale. Online learning lacks the physical presence that naturally shapes a classroom, so improving interaction and engagement has been a recurring theme. I have designed scalable, synchronous interaction models for online courses, and [[Portfolio/Making Asynchronous Learning Less Lonely|even designed interaction for self-paced courses with no instructors or peers]]. Often, the most effective improvements came from small, deliberate design changes that improved engagement.
Along the way, I have also focused on simplifying systems—streamlining design workflows through vendor negotiation and automation. One of my earliest projects involved [[Portfolio/Building an AI Chatbot for Instant Tech Support|building a retrieval-based AI chatbot]] from scratch that delivered instant answers to students' technology questions, eliminating delays in technical support.
Across all my work, the goal has always been the same: design learning systems grounded in evidence and iteration, even when useful data doesn’t yet exist.
